Today, we celebrate Burny Enever, whose recent victory in the Labor Court has set a groundbreaking precedent, not only for cannabis users but for all employees across the nation.

Burny’s victory against Barloworld, upheld by the Constitutional Court of South Africa, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing battle for fair treatment of cannabis users in the workplace.


After four years of relentless struggle, this ruling affirms that employees' rights cannot be undermined by blanket zero-tolerance policies.


This decision is a call to all employers to reevaluate their cannabis policies and ensure they do not inadvertently discriminate against those who use cannabis, whether for medical or recreational purposes.

Reflecting on this monumental achievement, Burny shared: "Cannabis saved my life from a pharmaceutical addiction, and I believe God made it clear to me through this... that this is so important, it will be worth risking the job loss I had to suffer. I was clearly right "

The Sacred Nature of Cannabis

Burny’s journey is deeply rooted in her belief in the sacredness of the cannabis plant. She passionately advocates for the recognition of cannabis as a powerful tool for health, sustainability, and economic growth.


For Burny, this fight has always been about more than just her personal rights; it’s about equality, human rights, and ensuring that cannabis users are treated with the same respect as those who use alcohol or prescription drugs !


We asked Burny , what inspired her to take a stand for her Rights?

“In essence, it is the sacred nature of the plant. Cannabis has so many benefits within the health, sustainability, and economical spectrum, there's no doubt that it is sacred, provided it is treated with the same sacred respect. I believe that God aligned my path, with the important task of fighting for it. In my personal situation, it was a path focused on equality and human rights. So that cannabis users in the work place can be treated equally to alcohol, or prescribed drug users.”


Words of Wisdom from Burny

When asked for her advice to women considering a career in cannabis, Burny offers powerful guidance: 


“I can imagine it's not an easy path, especially while the law is still being written. It's pointless to even consider it, unless you are seriously passionate about the plant and its healing benefits. Learn as much as you can about cannabis, so that you can relay effective and correct information. Interact with its various cultures. Grow it and use it yourself, so that you can understand the plant's nature and its benefits. Karma should be on your side, if your priority is helping people and our planet, rather than making lots of money. Ethics is key!!”


We asked Burny to share  her favourite motivational quote with us, and she gave us two !

  1. “Your karma will be cool, as long as you treat others the way you are willing to be treated.”

  2. “Just get off your arse, and get it over and done with!”
